Shara Patterson was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She is currently residing in Saint Louisville, Ohio. She has been married for 15 years, and they have a four-year-old daughter, their miracle child. Her daughter looks like Shara’s mother who unfortunately passed a month before her birth. Her husband is an author and has created two independent horror films. For the last 19 years, Shara has worked as a data entry clerk for The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. She hopes to go back to school someday and pursue a career in human resources or get involved with public speaking. She has two brothers that have unconditionally loved and supported Shara through everything. She is very thankful and blessed for the family she was given.
In Shara’s spare time she enjoys traveling, expressing herself with song and acting, reading and cooking. One of her favorite things to do is volunteering because it has opened doors for her and she has been able to do various tasks that she might not have the opportunity to do otherwise. Meeting and helping others is the main reason why volunteering is one of her favorite things. Not only does Shara like to read books and blogs; she dreams of writing her very own book one day.
Shara sings for The Harmony Project which requires outside volunteer work. This was her introduction into the volunteer world, and she hasn’t looked back since. Once she found a passion for volunteering, she sought out more opportunities to help. She came across a posting for an InStepp blog writer, and the rest is history. Shara has been with InStepp for almost a year now. She is a blog writer and hopes to expand her work with the organization. When she submitted her first blog post, she was nervous. Gilda gave her the support and encouragement she needed to get more confident and comfortable with writing for the organization.
Currently, Shara is also volunteering at the Alzheimer Association and the YMCA. In the future, she would like to expand her volunteer work to more organizations.
When Shara came across the opportunity to volunteer for InStepp, she knew she wouldn’t be able to pass up on this opportunity of writing blogs about topics of the writers choice; there is an opportunity to learn. Learn about other women and be able to put yourself out there and find your creativity. Shara is doing just that. InStepp celebrates our empowerment and Shara believes that everyone has a story and she loves being able to share to the platform and also be able to hear about others. She loves the idea that her words could positively affect someone that she doesn’t even know. She also feels like InStepp has given her more knowledge and exposure on issues that she may not have known about or ever thought about.
Shara is a beautiful soul that is helping others with one word at a time. She has a passion and a loving warmth to her that you can feel reading her blog posts. Everyone at InStepp Inc. is very thankful that she has taken the time out of her schedule to help with our mission.
July is Shara’s birthday month so from me and the rest of InStepp, Happy Birthday Shara! We hope your month and especially your day is filled with love, joy, and passion.
