With New Year’s resolutions in full swing, and people trying to keep them, it can be difficult to find motivation to exercise when the weather gets cold. After a long day at work, the first thing that comes to mind might not be going to the gym, but probably to curl up on the couch and watch TV. But during your day, you can get some exercise in, and you might not have realized how easy and effortlessly it can be.
- Take the stairs. If your building has the option of elevator or stairs, take the stairs. This can burn calories doing this simple task every day.
- Stand vs sit. Get up and walk around every couple of hours. If you talking with a coworker, walk and talk to keep getting those steps in.
- Exercise at your desk. Stretching or calf raises can be done with very little room and won’t distract anyone.
- Exercise while brushing teeth. Squats or leg lifts can be a quick and easy way to stay moving.
By incorporating simple exercises during your day, it might give you motivation you need to go to the gym or for a run. If you have the equipment, you can workout at home and get the same results without the gym membership. And as a bonus, working out at home allows you to do it while watching TV; this will give you something fun to do if you don’t like exercising.
