Meet Our Guest Speaker: Jaisun McMillian
Jaisun McMillian is a published author, voice actor, singer, songwriter, playwright, director and producer. Born in San Antonio Texas, she is the daughter of a New York jazz singer and musician. Jaisun moved to Los Angeles in 1966, and became a member of The World Famous Platters and later she joined Martha Reeves’ Vandellas. She is the author and director of “The Anatomy Of A Woman Abused”, a play based loosely on her life. Behind Closed Doors: The Addiction To Power And Control, is the back-story of McMillian’s play in book form. Behind Closed Doors shares details of how early events in Jaisun’s life impacted subsequent life choices. To read her full biography, please click here.
Jackie Davis was born in Durham, North Carolina. She is a gifted soprano with a beautiful silky voice capable of commanding high scale with ease, at will. Jackie’s unquenchable spirit to sing started at an early stage in her life. Born into a family of 15 children, she developed a love for singing. Whenever an opportunity to sing presented itself, she did just that … whether in church, in school, or as a stand-in and honorary member of her brother’s musical group, the Luster Brothers.
Most background singers who are any good have to be great imitators. However, Jackie is no imitator. Her gift is the adaptable nature of her talent. She has a rare ability to match the voicing and style of whatever artist she is backing. She is also a solidly professional singer with exemplary technique, control and flexibility. She has real power and genuine dynamic range.
Jackie sets a new standard for musical perfection with rich vocal harmony that is shaded with the sophistication of southern gospel, jazz and R&B.
Our fashion show, produced again this year by FSmith Productions, featured the latest collections and styles by Cato and Dressbarn of Durham. This year’s fashion show is titled The Professional Woman…Business Casual/Business Classy/Business Sassy —- Business Casual for the 9-5er whose employee dress code doesn’t require suits and dresses but casual, yet comfortable clothes while still keeping it professional; Business Classy for the business women who enjoys being able to wear her heels and exudes class and style while still maintaining professionalism at the workplace; and Business Sassy for the business professional who’s ALWAYS going to keep it professional while being classy but likes a little spice in her style and accessorizes to the 9’s with the intent to add some spice to her look.
