InStepp’s 6th annual International Women’s Day Conference was held on Tuesday, March 8, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located at 4907 Garrett Road in Durham. The theme of our 2017 conference was Immigrant Women and the Law: Creating a Cross-Cultural Dialogue.
Event Information
This conference creates a space where immigrant women and other community members can come together to share experiences, and agencies working with them can network and share information.
Keynote Presenter
Remedios Gómez Arnau, Consul General
Consulate-General of Mexico, Raleigh, North Carolina
Remedios Gómez Arnau, a diplomat, was appointed by the President of Mexico and ratified by the Senate as Consul General in Raleigh, North Carolina, taking office on June 16, 2016.
Gómez Arnau previously headed the Consulate General of Mexico in Atlanta, Georgia and San Diego, California, from 2001 to 2008 and from 2008 to 2016, respectively.
Prior to her position in Atlanta, she was Academic Secretary and Associate Researcher at the North American Research Center (CISAN) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His research includes US foreign policy and the relationship between Mexico and the United States. Read more
